Stopping by Grandpa's House on a Snowy Winter's Day Whose house this is I think I know. Grandpa's house is in the village, though; He will not see me stopping here To watch his house fill up with snow. My little hundai must think it queer To stop without a farmhouse near Between the house and frozen gate The snowiest evening of the year. I give her gas the brakes do squeek To see if there's some mistake. The only other sound's the sweep Of easy wind and downy flake. The house is lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep. The Snowy Scene at G-pa's House Gramps, don't shovel it all away! New Jackie...thanks Granny! Dragonman!

Staying Put!

It seems to be the thing to do. It's the second day that our family has spent cooped up in the house. It's nice to have down time together, but we are starting to get a little stir crazy. Tomorrow we'll plan on driving over to my mom's mid-day so that I have a better chance of getting to work. I was involved in a snow-car accident when I was younger, and ever since then I've hated the thought of driving in the snow. Charlie, Valerie, and Ethan spent about an hour outside playing in the snow, until they were all too cold ( I think Valerie lasted the longest). Valerie worked on her snow hut while Ethan, Charlie, and i had a snowball fight. Charlie loved the sound the snow made under her feet. Crunch, crunch went the snow! Of course she also loved enticing the next door neighbor doggies to start barking. Her favorite sound of all is, "woof, woof." She says it too cute. After dinner we all relaxed at the table and played a long game of Masterpiece. We haven...

Charlie's in her new warm knit one piece Valerie's stocking I made today Valerie's snow hut Ethan's snow hut Our new Mr Frosty that was forgotten these last 5 years (h e stil l sings). Bethel cancelled school today, so we spe nt the day lounging around the house with the kids. After a scrumptuous breakfast (powdered sugar crepes with cherries), Mark started wrapping C gifts and I started making the kids' C stockings. Mark's mom gave me her pattern that she used when her k ids were little...very much a strong tradition in the Wegley family. She made 3 new socks this year for all the new ones in the family. I love going to their house and seeing all the socks hanging in a row on the banister. My sock, which was made for me when Mark and I got married, has a sneaky bell on the toe. M y mother in law knows me all too well. I hope the kids will cherrish these as much as I do mine. I finished Val and Ethan's when Mark commented on the lack of rick rack and ri...

The Long and the Short of It!

We waited in line to see Santa for 2 hours. Charlie started crying the minute she saw Santa! I failed to prepare for this adventure by dressing the kids to the tea, like all the 90 billion kids in line were. Christmas spirit...need I say more?

Black Friday

Image
Black Friday tradition is strong in my family. For years now, my sister and mom have perfected this wonderful shopping sport every year. I was luckily enough to get to join in this year for the first time. It all started on Thanksgiving with the ads. It took two hours of laughing, browsing ads, writing down what we wanted, and mapping our route, before we were truly ready for what the am had to bring. I had a blast, even though I had to drive, being with them this year. They are HARD CORE shoppers. We did find some pretty great deals.

Catching Z's

Charlie decided yesterday not to take a nap all day, so last night was nothing but fun for her and I. Since she was so exhausted from her new routine, I let her play in her crib today. After 20 minutes, this is how I found her. I almost woke her up with all my giggling .

Frugality Suicide

Got Taco's? I do. Three soft taco's. Three soft Taco Time taco's at the pretty tune of 13.17! I questioned the amount three times at the drive thru and not once did she even hint that these taco's were huge. Valerie wanted just three soft taco's, not three huge gut bombs. Whatever happened to little soft taco's, like taco bell's? I guess I know now that the two chains aren't even comparable. Life Lesson #3,249 learned.

Love Languages

Mark surprised me today with another dozen roses (the red ones he bought last week were almost dead), and two peppermint patties! I am soooo enjoying all these little surprise love gifts. I thought of him today too...I made him his favorite chili, bought him trail mix, and looked for a Christmas gift for him.
