Can Do Girl

Charlie can: Go from a sitting position to hands and knees. Moves one knee forward in a crawling position Walk along the couch, chair, or crib Pulls up on her knees in her crib Rolls over, both ways (just discovered that skill the other day) Says da da , mom, ma ma, sis (short for sissy), pa pa Recognizes family and gets excited to see her daycare provider (aka Granny) Waves "hi" and "bye" Laughs, mimics, plays dependently (not independently) Charlie doesn't: Sleep through the night:( P.S. Did my first c-section alone today. It went okay...of course, except for the fact that I forgot who was the boss of the room (anesthesia). Minor problem, not huge! All turned out well, regardless.

Sneak Peak

My family loves October. The weather, festivities, the nearing of Christmas, and the fun is something we all look forward to every year. Tonight, we went and found the kids' costumes. Ethan had a hard time finding a "scary" costume (although I think he did a great job in finding the scariest one in the kids section), and the girls and I, are dressing up as Lil Red/the wolf/the grandmother. Mark, of course, had to read us the Brother's Grimm version and the Charles Perralt version, before we committed to Little Red. Both tales were a bit scarier than the fables I've read to the kids. All in all, were committed. We wanted Ethan to be the huntsman but he didn't think that was scary enough for him. October fun still to be had: Trick or Trunk October 24th Dracula October 25th Rutledge Farms Corn Maze-October 26th Scariest Day of all....Pa's birthday October 28th (he hee) Halloween Party October 31st-complete with costumes, trick or treating, party, scary di...

Chance Encounters

Image
Wednesday, we took the kids to a local bookshop so that Valerie could meet one of her favorite authors. Peg Kehret, who penned quite a few books about a detective cat named Pete, was one of the four children's authors there. Valerie is currently reading several of her books, for the second time. Valerie had a chance to ask her a few questions, inquire about her Cat named Pete, and get her book signed. In between waiting around to see if she won anything, we had Ethan try on a bunch of silly hats. He had a chance to be a Roman guard, astronaut, knight, and a king. Pretty exciting for a school night.

Beware the next photo's are likely to reveal that my daughter loves to play rough, and that her adorable, fairly photogenic cousin loves to fight back.
