Northwest Snow Days

Image
My 4 day weekend corresponded with our first set of snow days in the Pacific Northwest. It really wasn’t that bad. Saturday, in the middle of a movie marathon with the girls (Valerie watches from Bozeman MT) we ran out and grabbed our groceries at Fred Meyer. I ordered them all online and we just pulled in and viola- groceries in our car in 5 minutes. I love doing this! Saves money and time. Valerie and I decided to cook with Food52 this weekend so I had a-little more complex foods to get—they did a great job and substitutions were on point! Winning all around! Saturday we stayed in and hung out hot tubbing and watching movies. On Sunday I spent four hours cooking with Valerie. We are still in the same cookbook so lots of yummy veggie meals. We made a Butternut squash and orange galette and Noor’s Black Lime Tofu! The tofu was over the top amazing. Charlie spent only approximately 30 minutes in the snow (while we watched her from the hot tub). She made this alien snow woman. Poor girl...

Early Valentine’s

Image
Far cry from this Valentine’s Day but just as perfect! We enjoyed a beautiful getaway at this perfectly quaint Japanese style home on Bainbridge Island. The home featured a traditional Japanese bath and a beautifully styled tea room. The kitchen had every type of coffee and tea pot on the market, Japanese inspired sushi plates, sake cups, and serving platters amongst every other kitchen appliance. Their thoughtful touches made cooking in their beautiful, floor-to-ceiling windowed kitchen very zen. I was treated to a lovely hour massage in the tea room complete with a lavender thyme candle, music, and lavender almond massage oil. The weekend was full of relaxing time. We stayed in mostly. The first night we went to the local market for sushi 🍱 (small selection and sub par) and miscellaneous menu items for the next day. We had a Japanese sushi meal while listening to Japanese music the first night, and a yummy steak seasoned with the new Smoked (in a smoke house) Nut Garlic seasoning we...

Celebrating Life

Celebrating life  Not getting older Wine helps I’m 42 right? I’m happy in life And Love Another year Is one year less that I have One year less that I have with The love of my life And my beautiful babies Birthdays suck This one didn’t  I refused to let the day Or the age  Ruin the great company and the wine we had. Montana Calls, and I Will Go

Image
We love the Montana Skyline! It is appropriately named “Big Sky” for a reason. I don’t mind the drive until we get to Spokane and then I dread Spokane to Missoula...so long, scary in parts and extremely boring. The end result is also sweet though. Precious time with my oldest can never be taken for granted. Our only snafu was making it a complete surprise to her. It back fired on us a tad but we rolled with the punches pretty well considering. She is definitely getting older, and older children shouldn’t be surprised! It was a great, short time that we spent with her though. We stayed at The Lewis and Clark hotel (if we stay without the girls again it will be here). The Eucalyptus Steam Room is to die for. The hot tub was well maintained and the pool was cold but beautiful. It’s very classy but old school style. We spent the Saturday running a few errands, fixing her glasses at Costco, visiting downtown Montana and having dinner together. Sunday we had breakfast at the Fox Trot! Avocad...
