Mom, Can I Give You A Makeover?

So I am headed off to Wal-Mart tonight, and I turn and do my habitual "anything else I need to get at Wal-Mart?" yell. My daughter looks at me and says, "mom, can you get me some makeup? I can give you dollars to pick it up for me!" I stare at her a second. Is this my little girl? The one who loves bugs, beetles, dinosaurs, bats, and snakes? I have longed for this day...where she is finally a little girl. A day where she wants what other girls her age wanted years before. I love it. I smile and tell her that I don't need her money but will see if I could find some cool makeup for her! Maybe it is all those Sunday mornings when she is hangin' out with Adelyn! After all, Adelyn definitely has her own style, and is very much a girlie girl (loved that camo dress with the black tights she had on this morning). She reminds me of a young Amy Lee, the lead singer of Evanescence (totally a compliment, if you were wondering).

I left. Shopped. Returned from the Mart with tons of bags in tow. Valerie was the first to pop out to help bring in the groceries. She searched each bag until she found the blue heart box that contained her very own blue shaded makeup kit. She was thrilled. Needless to say, she had herself primped up in about 5 minutes, and was begging to give me a makeover. I agreed. The result took me straight back to the 80's! We giggled. Tried to take some pictures (sorry, didn't turn out), and giggled some more. I enjoyed my first Valerie makeover and am sure there are more to come. I thought of other things that need a makeover in my life. Here is my "makeover" list (to satisfy the thirst of all the obsessed list makers out there) of things happening in my own life.

1. Received a girlie makeover from Valerie today
2. My finances are getting a complete makeover in about a week
3. My Spiritual life is in need of a makeover. Devotions, prayer, tithing etc.
4. My church membership is getting a makeover-from Second to Journey (already signed the covenant, just have to turn it in).
5. My daily schedule is getting a makeover this week-days to myself. What will I do?
6. I am getting a pedicure, manicure, and a massage next week. A makeover sure to please!
7. My days of orientation at work are dwindling, and I will makeover a new schedule. Self scheduling is sure to please everyone.
8. My eating habits are getting a complete makeover.
9. My exercising habits are getting a complete makeover (oh, that's right I have to start the habit to have it madeover, right?).
10. My school lunches are getting a creative makeover.

OK Valerie. Use up all the makeup as fast as possible. And then no replacement. Stay grandma little bug collector. Dont rush. Love Grandma.
(Evanescence our own home state rock band-Love Amy Lee!)My girls are not very girly girl either, recognizable by all the girls in my youngest daughter's kindergarten class-hair fixed to the hilt,Kyla on the other hand, ran a brush through it and called it a day,I asked do you want me to fix your hair...No,mom.Although she does have an obsession with makeup, but I wonder where she got all of this, the girly girl I am(sarcasm)??? Makeovers are fun though especially when your daughter is giving it to you,I made over my mother weekly until I was 18 years old...LOL.Would have loved to have seen those 80's-esque pix.Lovin the list too!

Love the list, Angela. Valeri is so cute and so unique-I LOVE unique (technically I guess we all are, huh?)

Before the money makeover you MUST READ Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. I have a copy if you would like to borrow it (brand new and ready to be read). It totally changed our perspective and helped our outlook about finances totally!

Schedule me in for the pedicure. It's something I've always wanted...maybe we can go together if someone will watch my darlings (who don't get to go to school yet).

Glad about the Journey membership covenant. I'm truly excited to see you guys on a weekly basis at Journey!

Long enough, again, I should go write on my own blog...

Oh that's awesome that Valerie is into girly stuff now! Madison is SUCH a girly girl.. but so am I.. she can't help it! lol She owns a ton of makeup, nail polish, bows, etc... we could spend all day painting nails and doing each other's lip gloss. :) I would love to see pics of that... you should redo the makeover and try the pics again! Will you be able to hang out at the park tomorrow? i'm going to go after I drop madison at school.. it'd be great to see you!

Hmmm...I wonder if makeup would help my appearance any? I seriously doubt it though. I haven't madeover anything in a while. Does the bed count? Come to think about it I haven't done that either...maybe I need a list.
