Paid off two sizeable debts, thanks to a recent "windfall." 3. Corrected a Dr on his interpretation of a patient rythm 4. Stopped a heart from beating with Adenosine. 5. Casual Conversations

Image
Ethan: Dad, bamember (remember) the day you married mommy? Dad: Yes. Do you? Ethan: Uh huh! You ate cake and mommy gave you a gift. Dad: Were you there? Ethan: Yes. You both talked, bamember? Dad: What gift did mommy give me? Ethan: (grinning) A cookie. I guess Ethan has the events from 12 years ago committed to memory (although he was non- existent). Pretty accurate account of that day, though. Mark, hope you enjoyed both the conversations, and that cookie! Ethan: Mommy, I think you are so beautiful. Mommy: Thank you Ethan. That was so sweet to say. Ethan: Uh-huh. I promise to never break up with you.

Busted!

Back to school! Alarm set for 0615. Check. Alarm rings. Check. Grandma's new school clothes on. Check. One beautiful little girl's hair fixed. Check. Backpacks on back. Check. New shoes from Auntie Shanny on. Check. Make sure Ethan is wearing underwear. Check. Two nummy lunches prepared by mamma. Check, check. Two smiles on their faces as we part for yet another chapter of their lives. Check, check (well, almost). Back to the lunches. If you've had a chance to check out my side bar or the post I wrote on about a specific lunch box I wanted to use this year, then your at the beginning of my story. If not, stop here and check out the awesome lunch boxes I found on the internet. The rest of you read on! The other night, I had a wild crazy moment and realized that it had been at least 90 days since I discovered and wanted these lunch boxes. Remembering back to some Larry Burkett rule, where you have to wait to buy something to make sure you really wanted it, I found myself ...

Mom, Can I Give You A Makeover?

Image
So I am headed off to Wal-Mart tonight, and I turn and do my habitual "anything else I need to get at Wal-Mart?" yell. My daughter looks at me and says, "mom, can you get me some makeup? I can give you dollars to pick it up for me!" I stare at her a second. Is this my little girl? The one who loves bugs, beetles, dinosaurs, bats, and snakes? I have longed for this day...where she is finally a little girl. A day where she wants what other girls her age wanted years before. I love it. I smile and tell her that I don't need her money but will see if I could find some cool makeup for her! Maybe it is all those Sunday mornings when she is hangin' out with Adelyn! After all, Adelyn definitely has her own style, and is very much a girlie girl (loved that camo dress with the black tights she had on this morning). She reminds me of a young Amy Lee , the lead singer of Evanescence (totally a compliment, if you were wondering). I left. Shopped. Returned from the Mart ...

Picoult raises the bar...

Image
I picked up this unique novel, My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult, at a bookstore in Mississippi. Although it is not hard to find, at nearly any bookstore, I treasured the buying experience. Mark and I love to browse bookstores, both new and used. We even find the quaint bookstores to be more delightful if we have a fresh cup of brew (joe) in our hands. I was able to consume half of this book the first weekend I bought it(we were on a mini no kids vacation) , and then had to find moments in each day to finish up the rest. True to the book review below, I couldn't put it down. I found myself reading it in the car, while walking into work, and even when I was standing at the time clock waiting for 653p to appear. I highly recommend this book to everyone. The characters are rich, the storyline is controversial (I am against organ donation, but hey that's another post), and the ending....well you'll just have to read it. Below, is a review copied from Amazon that summari...

Pay it forward...the second time!

A bumper sticker. My bumper sticker (well, not actually adhered to the car yet!). What this means for you? My sister from Washington was kind enough to scrape up 4 of these lovely bumper stickers. Two have been spoken for, and two I want to give away. In the south this is a prized possession, since Wal-Mart (Hell-Mart) has a monopoly on what we can buy. I hate Wal-Mart...and would never shop there again if we had another good grocery store (The Pig doesn't count). Although I may never place this on my bumper, for fear of having my tires slashed, I still love looking at it on the fridge (Mark is putting one on his office bulletin board). So this is the offer. The first two commenters will receive this lovely bumper sticker, courtesy of me, myself, and I (oh, and my sister Shannon )!

Friday Fever

Image
1. When is the last time your phone rang in the middle of the night? -depends what you call the middle of the night. I slept all day today, because I work nights. So technically it was today, during the day. 2. Who makes you yell? -kids. 3. What do you do for fun? -Blogging and watching BTVS every night! 4. What hours do you work/go to school? -7p to 7a! Grrr. If you pass by a church on 35, and see my car, just realize that I am on my home from work... and couldn't quite make it there! I pull off for a snooze nearly every morning! I actually made it home without stopping this morning, thanks to a large Mountain Dew (maybe this is why my brother in law is always soooo full of energy)!!!! 5. Who is number one in your life? -Okay, I plead the fifth. Mark always made me say, pre-kids, that we would keep each other number one regardless of wee ones! Husband, kids, and God vie for first place continually!

When did I come undone?

I admit this post may have a touch of depressive wordiness, so if you tend towards depression on your own, then stop here, write a comment to say "hi", and move along. If I mention something negative that characterizes your own life, know that I don't judge you for your own life, just my own. Heck, you might even relate. If you thrive on lists for your very existence, then enjoy this and maybe even make one of your own. When did I stop.... 1. making sure my kids faces were clean out in public and before bed. 2. washing my car every week (a little ritual dad instilled in me). 3. keeping the car clean inside (crumbs, crackers, old fries lurking in the cracks). 4. believing that I can muster enough creativity to begin my scrapbooks again. 5. holding fast to my ideals of the traditional marriage roles. 6. wondering if it was Biblical to listen to the Christian rock band Petra. 7. pursuing my quiet time with God. 8. believing that He can provide for my family. 9. making sure t...
