Gift of Giving

Christmas was getting closer and Mark and I couldn't come up with a gift for my mom, and his parents. I was really excited about my dad's present, his Keurig Brewing system. It was the perfect gift! I always want to give perfect, meaningful gifts that shout, "I care about you enough to give you something you would love and benefit from." Arlene is great at all those types of gifts. She can give the kids gifts that they never asked for, or expected, but that are personal! I will tell you in a different post what Val got this year. We wanted to do the same for my mom, and his parents. Gifts together can be tricky. We went out on a limb and purchased tickets for 9 of us to go see Scrooge The Musical at People's Church. They have put on this play for 30 years, and I remember my mom and dad taking us to see it on more than one occasion throughout my early years. I loved it then! The love story, and the conviction to change at the end has always moved me, even as a little girl. The dancing and the singing inspired me to take voice lessons when I was a kid.

Every year I plan to take the kids, I end up waiting till the last minute to purchase tickets, and then bail out when we can't get the best seats in the house. Unfortunately, this year was no exception. Our seats were close to the orchestra, but luckily we could hear everything just fine. The kids liked it, and I think even the adults did too. They had flying angels that drifted over the audience seats, pyrotechnics when Marley arrived, and funny comments eluding to Facebook and twitter. Awesome, I say.

Prior to the production we took just the adults out for a wonderful sit down meal at Johnny's Dock. We sat right next to the window, overlooking the water. We were able to enjoy the Christmas cruiser that runs back and forth from Pier 39, and then back to the water. We had a great time trying not to talk politics;) Our meals were yummy and we loved sharing our favorite getaway meal with our families. Too close the evening, we met back at the house for Shari's triple berry and apple pie. It was a late night for our folks, but that was the only drawback;)

Merry Christmas Harry and Arlene, and Mom and Dad!
