Ballerina Baby To Dancing Little Lady
Charlie started Ballet/Jazz lessons last Monday! The last time we were at The Dance Academy was in the summer of 2011. I remember her first dance class, I thought she hated it because she refused to do anything that day, and made me sit in the classroom (or she would cry). She continued on and loved it. It was a commitment that was too large at the time so we held off until this year. Dancing, cheering, singing, performing are things she loves to do. She loves telling stories, singing to us, but dancing is her favorite. She doesn't get her coordination from her mom, since I have a hard time hoping on one foot (mom, now I know where I get it). I believe that dancing will teach her motivation, skill, endurance, discipline, and besides it makes her smile and when she does those beautiful eyes light up the room. When we arrived on Monday she was able to attend the dance class for free as a trial (scheduled ahead of time), and were told Monday's were closed due to the current class size. I was bummed because Monday was going to work best for me, Mark and Val/Ethan's schedule. After class I talked with Mrs. Sherry and she said she remembered Charlie and her big beautiful eyes from our last class two years ago, and said she would love to have her join this class on Monday. She said she was a perfect fit, and followed directions well. What great news!! She started off by showing the girls the new routine for Christmas, and it is going to be awesome. It is paired with the music from Mr. Grinch the Musical, and will be a cute jazz number with hats.
Her first class with Mrs Sherry in 2011. You can see that I had to sit in the class just to make her feel comfortable.
Practicing using the bar. Let's get that leg straight.
I wonder if it's because she is left handed. Maybe she needs to try the other leg?
Watching from outside the classroom! She is following Mrs. Sherry perfectly!
These aren't the hats, but we are practicing with them until they are ready.
