Friday means a great many things to my kids: Endless hours of Xbox, Wii, Computer, Free times Movie Night Pay Day No bedtime (except for the wee one) Play time
It all began in 1986! My parents volunteered to host a Japanese exchange student, through our local church! Norie flew to Washington State for a 3 week introduction to the our country. We hit it off the minute I met her. She came, with my parents, to pick me up from summer camp. Her little Japanese/English dictionary was the only way we could communicate. I guess in the end it didn't matter! She fell in love with the States, and I fell in love with Japan. I think that is what my parents had in mind, for us to understand a bit of culture that existed outside of our own. She quickly became my best friend. Through the years, she has visited twice (one of those times was when I was married in 1994), I have visited her in Japan in 1992, and then in New York in 2004. Norie loved the States so much that she ended up attending college here and currently resides in New York City! She has taught me so much respect for the Japanese culture. My desire to live there, has remained constant sin...
Monday, when we got back from our anniversary trip, found a note on the counter that read: Suzanne called. Play group. Tuesday at 830am. Who would schedule a playgroup so early? Doesn't anyone sleep in? Let the kids find their own breakfast, and stay under the covers till they beg for lunch? I guess that was not in the cards for us today! We spent the early morning hours playing at the park with pretty much everyone from Journey! Unfortunately around 10 a.m. the heat found us and forced us to retreat to Suzanne's house for some relief! We had a great time chatting, the conversation ranged from ovulation...and ended with ovulation. I think Micheal enjoyed the conversation as much ...
Thanksgiving was graciously celebrated early because I have to work tomorrow. My MIL was wonderful to offer the change indate so that we could all be together. It felt good to spend time with our family. Our year has been filled with a ton of loss and sorrow so it's hard to take time and be thankful. But we are Thankful! We are thankful for each and every day we spend with our families. We fought hard for years just to get back to our families and although they drive us mad sometimes they are the only reason to struggle through this life. I love and am Thankful for my family and Mark's family. I have learned to love them for who they are. My millennial kids have taught me that over time. Their hearts are open to everyone, and to change! I love that about them. As we, or actually I because I think my husband is coming back over for more Thanksgiving tomorrow, close the book on today I can't help but feel an incredible sadness today. Our first Thanksgiving without Mike. I p...
