Abston Cup Day 3/4

Sunday was lazy day and we all dispersed for a couple hours and then eventually found our way back to the cabin for more games and dinner. After dinner Mark, Ethan, Val, and I snuck away to Timberline Lodge which was only 6 miles from the house. We had no idea till earlier when we saw a postcard of the lodge that this was the "Outlook Hotel." What a treat to see it in person! It was the Hotel that Stanley Kubrick used in his movie, "The Shinning." Unfortunately they didn't use the inside of the lodge for filming, but it has a history all its own and we toured it as well! We ended up going back to the lodge this morning because Charlie wanted to see the mountain and all the snow. It was packed with excited and thankful (that the snow was there) snowboarders and skiers.

Monday when we were about to leave the kids lined up at the table and couldn't take their eyes off the lady next door because she was doing crossfit in her garage. They were amazed at her strength and stamina. I think at one point she turned and gave them all a thumbs up 👍🏻. On our drive back home I remembered that Shannon had told us to call her, and she would feed us! Traffic was great so we decided to stop! I'm glad we did. Mark grilled the chicken, I made a salad, and Shannon cut fresh peaches from Costco. The kids played on the trampoline, and played badminton 🏸, while Mark and I planted a blueberry bush, and helped install the air conditioner. Thanks for inviting us Shannon!!!!!

Monday, when we got back from our anniversary trip, found a note on the counter that read: Suzanne called. Play group. Tuesday at 830am. Who would schedule a playgroup so early? Doesn't anyone sleep in? Let the kids find their own breakfast, and stay under the covers till they beg for lunch? Well, you know heat here in the summers, ranging around the 100's, makes us southerners wake up early in the a.m. to do the things we enjoy. When noon rolls around, we hull up in our homes, doors tightly shut, curtains drawn, trying to escape the BIG BAD (the sun appropriately named, right Spike?)! I guess that was not in the cards for us today! We spent the early morning hours playing at the park with pretty much everyone from Journey! Unfortunately around 10 a.m. the heat found us and forced us to retreat to Suzanne's house for some relief! My latest obsessions….puzzling The week after Coyote made a surprise visit! It’s been awhile since I posted! I was just looking back on some posts and giggled so I think it is important to continue since posts tell the story of my life. These pictures were from our latest venture to Paso Robles to see Coyote! Mark, I, and Charlie drove to Paso Robles California in approximately 18 hours. We stayed three glorious days and drove home within the sametime frame. While we were there, we got to see Hearst Castle, visited San Luis Obispo, saw the ocean and tons of beached Sea creatures, ate amazing food, drank amazing coffee, visited a couple of thrift stores, art galleries, and was surprised to find a outdoor vending machine full of specialty meats and cheeses. We purchased a cheese that was literally black all the way through. It was so good and tasty. It had a wonderful lemon taste to it and was very mild. Our Airbnb was located on a Vineyard.
