Saturday with the Slaughters

Image
The Seattle Public Library                           What an awesome weekend! We had so much fun hanging out with the Slaughters. We finally caught the Geocaching bug, and because we are premium members now we can Geocache with anyone. Mark logged all our geocaches that we have done in the past with the Slaughters so we have quite a few under our belt. We met them downtown on Saturday, and played all day. We went to Pike Street, Gum Wall, Seattle Center, Kerry Park, and then to Salty's on Alki Point. We stayed at the W Hotel in Seattle where they stayed. Our room was awesome, and it was upgraded to a suite. There was a long hallways inside our room that led to the bedroom. It was decorated very retro 1970's! Before bed we hung out in their room drinking wine and talking about every subject we could think of. Mark and I ended up going to bed around 4am. We actually had a great conversation after we l...

Salish Lodge

Image
I know. Again I didn't post this on time but I want to remember our trip to Salish! We left the kids with the Wegley's and snuck away to Salish Lodge for a night. I tried to find a cool outing for us to do for a night and when I discovered Salish Lodges' Twin Peaks package I knew I had found it!! Mark had recently told me that he wanted to watch Twin Peaks with me so I knew this would get him excited to get away. We had been very busy in April so this was literally the only time we could get away. I called him up, told him about the package (he thought since it  was a package it was a good deal-ha ha)! I had heard about the Salish and all the good reviews were spot on. The people were nice, the food was amazing, and the amenities were awesome. The in room two person jetted lit tub was very relaxing, the fire place was romantic, and the shampoo/conditioner/lotion was the best I have ever had in a hotel room experience. We ate at  t...

Families Reunited

Image
I realized that I forgot to post these picks. I did the same last year so I didn't want to miss out on remembering the reunion. It wasn't a blast this year because of the intense sadness we had felt. It was hard to go and tell this story over and over again to my Aunt Miget, who has Alzheimer's. She has been more and more forgetful over the years. She is still my favorite, and always will be. I realized this year though that the whole "ssh, don't tell anyone your my favorite" might be a way for her to not have to say your name. I want to believe I'm her favorite though! I love Marks family. I really did get lucky with how awesome the extended family are.  Mark made the long drive for us so much fun. He made us a music playlist that spanned the years of our marriage (22 years). He chose a song that was popular and relevant to us for each year we have been ...

Comparative

Image
It's all comparative isn't it? I love the new idea of taking a photo of the first and last day of school. It's so interesting and fun to look back on their progress throughout the year. Everyday the kids change but it is so slight that we don't see it. Ethan and Val really changed the most this year. Val started dressing up (thanks to her Aunt Jill's prodding) and Ethan, oh my! He looks like a man!  Val spent this year buried in her books, honed into her many hobbies, and singing Hamilton  at the top of her lungs, around the house. She received Student of the Year in Mathematics (it was even posted on FP Facebook page)! She has even made herself an organized checklist for her summer obligations without a mamma prompt. I am OVER the TOP proud of her.   Ethan is done with this year and has managed to survive with all the changes that he had to go through. I will say that I am glad to get a break from his Bio...
