Comparative

          It's all comparative isn't it? I love the new idea of taking a photo of the first and last day of school. It's so interesting and fun to look back on their progress throughout the year. Everyday the kids change but it is so slight that we don't see it. Ethan and Val really changed the most this year. Val started dressing up (thanks to her Aunt Jill's prodding) and Ethan, oh my! He looks like a man! 

Val spent this year buried in her books, honed into her many hobbies, and singing Hamilton at the top of her lungs, around the house. She received Student of the Year in Mathematics (it was even posted on FP Facebook page)! She has even made herself an organized checklist for her summer obligations without a mamma prompt. I am OVER the TOP proud of her.
 

Ethan is done with this year and has managed to survive with all the changes that he had to go through. I will say that I am glad to get a break from his Biology teacher, and might be celebrating more than he is. He will begin working on his volunteer hours and is trying to get paid hours working with my brother with his landscaping business! He had his first day today and Jer said he did great. He is saving for a computer!!
 

Charlie's growth looks like it happened mainly in her hair length. She started school mid waist and now it hangs past her little bum! She is missing Mrs Likens and Mrs Scott but is looking forward to Camp Gilead next month with her cousins! Although she didn't win any awards (she was glad because she didn't want to walk up front during the assembly) she was so excited for her friend Lexi who did! She has such a true heart of friendship..

Monday, when we got back from our anniversary trip, found a note on the counter that read: Suzanne called. Play group. Tuesday at 830am. Who would schedule a playgroup so early? Doesn't anyone sleep in? Let the kids find their own breakfast, and stay under the covers till they beg for lunch? Well, you know heat here in the summers, ranging around the 100's, makes us southerners wake up early in the a.m. to do the things we enjoy. When noon rolls around, we hull up in our homes, doors tightly shut, curtains drawn, trying to escape the BIG BAD (the sun appropriately named, right Spike?)! I guess that was not in the cards for us today! We spent the early morning hours playing at the park with pretty much everyone from Journey! Unfortunately around 10 a.m. the heat found us and forced us to retreat to Suzanne's house for some relief! My latest obsessions….puzzling The week after Coyote made a surprise visit! It’s been awhile since I posted! I was just looking back on some posts and giggled so I think it is important to continue since posts tell the story of my life. These pictures were from our latest venture to Paso Robles to see Coyote! Mark, I, and Charlie drove to Paso Robles California in approximately 18 hours. We stayed three glorious days and drove home within the sametime frame. While we were there, we got to see Hearst Castle, visited San Luis Obispo, saw the ocean and tons of beached Sea creatures, ate amazing food, drank amazing coffee, visited a couple of thrift stores, art galleries, and was surprised to find a outdoor vending machine full of specialty meats and cheeses. We purchased a cheese that was literally black all the way through. It was so good and tasty. It had a wonderful lemon taste to it and was very mild. Our Airbnb was located on a Vineyard.
