Paleo Party for Five

Image
Ethan's birthday-February 22,2012! We took the kids to Sky High in Bellevue for the day. They had a blast jumping, playing dodge ball, and practicing flips. Valerie helped me bake Ethan a Paleo Coconut Cream cake for the party. We celebrated quietly with just our family. We are used to that because of all the time we spent in Arkansas alone. Ethan's presents: 25.00 iTunes certificate from The Wegley's 50.00 bill from Gramps and Grams 25.00 Target gift card from The Cortez's A year subscription to GAMEFLY, Two pairs of jeans, two shirts, p.j.'s, wii game, undies from Us

Mark asked me out. I said yes, and that proceeded one of the best nights I've had in a long time. I needed time away from the hospital (everyone had too much fun celebrating Memorial Day last year), time away from kids, and time away from the house in order to completely relax. Plus, I love spending time with my man. I can't believe we managed to relax enough in such a short period, but we did, and ended up thoroughly enjoying each others company. We stayed at The Westin Portland. The beds there are so soft that it makes it nearly impossible to wake up in the morning. The shower (pictured here) was exactly what I want for our bathroom, so I took pictures;) Saturday Mark took me to see BenUnion at The Star theater. It was a Black and White party with people walking on stilts, hoola hooping, and face painting! The crowd was crazy. Very New Orleans style....! I decided to stop acting like the prudish woman across from us, and got my face painted! The artist kept telling me that I...

Cheat Day/Valentines Day

Image
Today was deemed our cheat day from Paleo. After Whole30 we decided to continue as long as we had one cheat meal a week. The kids spent the day eating candy, cheesecakes on sticks, and whatever else came their way. After school we all went out to Red Robin for dinner, followed by Krispy Kremes for dessert---yummo! We had so much fun with the kids tonight! Since Whole30 we work so much better together (except when the Bitch Monster Compels Me..or so I'm told). Charlie told my mom today, when she tried to give her fries, "I can't eat that, I'm on Paleo." my dad offered her chocolate and she said, "we don't eat that stuff anymore." I am so proud of her, and the other two. They all have done an excellent job with our new lifestyle. Everyone is soo much healthier... Val's presents- Cinder(book), bubble bath Ethan's presents- Skull Candy headphones, y.cards Charlie- pillow pets, and bubble bath

Whole30 Complete

I have waited to post anything on my blog related to Whole30 which included thoughts and feelings to the very end for the reason that I wasn't so sure my family, or I would make it. We have, and we did. Many emotions have been displayed throughout the course of the 30, but never regret on my part. I did go through detox, and lethargy, and some nasty poo, but the worst was experienced in the first week. The first week Mark and I spent on the couch in our jam-jams sleeping and watching movies. Maybe the hardest day was my birthday, when I fussed about how i couldn't have cake. mark fixed that for me and made the best tasting PALEO cake. We have been through diet changes before Iil lady came about, the year of our lives that we spent as vegetarians. Charlie has presented some problems. People at work thought I was cruel, even doctors, for depriving my 4 year old of milk and milk based products. So much so, that I allowed Greek yogurt, only one a day to be included back into her di...
