Dr. Who and my Whovians

Image
January 23rd marked the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Who! The kids have recently gotten into all things Who so it was only fitting to take them to the celebration at the EMP. Of course since the event was FREE for members it made it even more attractive. I haven't watched a single epsidode--except for the one I slept through five hours earlier--so I had no idea what to expect. Fandoms interest me though so I knew it would be fun(currently a Buffy and Breaking bad fan). I did offer not to go just in case I would put a damper on things. I'm glad I went! The event reminded me of Mark's literary conferences. We were able to listen to two segments (2 hours total); one was a Skype session with the author of "Chicks Dig Time Lords"; and the second session included 6 students from UW who each presented their 5 minute talks on Dr Who theories and observations. After those sessions we took pictures with the Dalik, watched a costume contest, and voted for our favorite Doctor. Th...

Halloween Party 2013

Image
Okay, going to try something different. I write posts all the time. I write for memories, both mine and the kids, for fun and for pleasure. Since I know that everyone of you that reads this was present that night (if not you should be reading it that is), I want you to write this post! Challenge: please post your thoughts on this night, and what stands out in your memory (whether it be the food, a costume, or the decorations) in the comment section. When everyone has commented I will repost everyone's comments in the blog itself! Enjoy guest blogging!!!

October Favorites

October 1st starts off right with a morning run to Starbucks and some warm pumpkin bread to share! Our famous "Happy_____Day" whiteboard that gets changed nearly every day. This picture remained for nearly a week because Val rocked this drawing a week before Halloween! End of golf for the year! She is ready for the family reunion golf tournament next May! Yeah for the next generation bringing this tradition forward. Catching frogs in the garden after I ripped out the last of our summer garden. Love this picture of Valerie. So raw, real, and angled perfectly!!! Kitty loves to snuggle up on Mark but lately he has been planting his nose in between Mark's legs to keep warm! Poor kitty! We promise to turn the heat on at the end of November;( Daddy took the kids to the Conditions concert in Seattle. He first met the band member two years ago and hasn't spoken to them since that concert but the singer came up to Mark, called him by name and chatted with the kids! Love it wh...

School Spirit

Image
FPS cheer camp-Charlie was more than willing to go and share her school spirit, in fact she loved it. I love that she is full of spirit, sweetness, and eagerness to try new routines. I was lucky enough to see her spirit first hand at the game. Her group cheered at an FPS game on a Friday during 2nd quarter and during halftime. Grandma Nagel was able to come and see our sweet cheerleader in action. After halftime Charlie continued to cheer in the stands mimicking the cheerleaders! I see lots of games in our future with FPS;)
