Memories of a Relaxing Time

November 27th-First stop in our vacation journey:

Portland Zoo. We had a great time wondering around the zoo. The weather was cold but that didn't bother the animals. From the bears to the hippos all were out, and in rare form! Val tracked down every snake (she had my phone so I have 20,000 pictures of snakes), Charlie loved the stinky penguins, and Ethan loved the tiger, lions and bears (oh my)! Can you tell who is the best at posing for the camera?

2nd stop was Embassy Suites Hotel in Tigard. I chose this hotel because we used to frequent one back in Little Rock and their free breakfast was totally worth the price of the room. Here was no different! Free drinks and snacks at the Managers reception and an awesome breakfast that kept the kids full on our trip to Klamath Falls was worth the extra 30.00 we spent on the room. The room was large. It included a sitting room with a pull out and two queen beds. We ventured out to see the sequel to the Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Charlie was so worn out she fell asleep ten minutes in.

Prescription for Peace and Popsicles

Monday, when we got back from our anniversary trip, found a note on the counter that read: Suzanne called. Play group. Tuesday at 830am. Who would schedule a playgroup so early? Doesn't anyone sleep in? Let the kids find their own breakfast, and stay under the covers till they beg for lunch? Well, you know heat here in the summers, ranging around the 100's, makes us southerners wake up early in the a.m. to do the things we enjoy. When noon rolls around, we hull up in our homes, doors tightly shut, curtains drawn, trying to escape the BIG BAD (the sun appropriately named, right Spike?)! I guess that was not in the cards for us today! We spent the early morning hours playing at the park with pretty much everyone from Journey! Unfortunately around 10 a.m. the heat found us and forced us to retreat to Suzanne's house for some relief! My latest obsessions….puzzling The week after Coyote made a surprise visit! It’s been awhile since I posted! I was just looking back on some posts and giggled so I think it is important to continue since posts tell the story of my life. These pictures were from our latest venture to Paso Robles to see Coyote! Mark, I, and Charlie drove to Paso Robles California in approximately 18 hours. We stayed three glorious days and drove home within the sametime frame. While we were there, we got to see Hearst Castle, visited San Luis Obispo, saw the ocean and tons of beached Sea creatures, ate amazing food, drank amazing coffee, visited a couple of thrift stores, art galleries, and was surprised to find a outdoor vending machine full of specialty meats and cheeses. We purchased a cheese that was literally black all the way through. It was so good and tasty. It had a wonderful lemon taste to it and was very mild. Our Airbnb was located on a Vineyard.
