If I Had to Choose

Image
If I had to choose just two photos for each exciting event we did from Mid June-July they would be....   Our Anniversary trip to Newport Oregon happened right when school was completing. It was a wonderful get away together with a trip down the Oregon Wine Coast. We stopped at 4-5 wineries, purchased tastings, purchased wine, and enjoyed the silence, views, and uninterrupted adult conversations. We rented a cute little Air BNB and spent the days and nights enjoying the beach, the hot tub, and each other’s company! One of my favorite spur of the moment trips to meet Shannon, the kids, and Luke in Portland Oregon. We rented a hotel in Vancouver Wa and lucked out by only paying $28 for a double suite! The hotel wasn’t bad at all (minus a few I welcomed ants in the girls’ sink). We met up with Shannon at Powell’s and ate at Alder Street Market. We later left and stopped at Mount Ranier Visitors Center. Ethan unfortunately was doing the same tour but with his girlfriends family. so we ...

First Days

First Day went off without a hitch. Charlie’s teacher is going to be amazing this year. He is young, has no expectations for math homework other than facts and reading 20 pages a night. Reading is the most important thing a child can do to increase comprehension, spelling, word structure, and fluency. It was also build her imagination and help her dream of other worlds and things that will stretch her understanding of life. We also no longer have to sign the worksheet so it causes her to be more responsible for her actions. I like him already!  Ethan woke us up ready to go to school at 645am. He didn’t have to be at the bus till 1115 but wanted to go to Sams before school. He’s a good, trustworthy kid so we let him go. Senior year for him!!! Yikes! He had an okay schedule but would love to change culinary arts with beginning guitar. We will find out tomorrow if that is possible. He hopefully will make better decisions on homework this year. I hope he has a blast his senior year! S...

First and Final Camping Trip

Image
Hahhaa. We started off the summer with promises of camping but managed to never get around to it till the very last moment. Probably because my hubs would much rather be in a nice hotel room than sleeping on a blow up mattress, in the middle of nowhere, cold to the bone, and all without the comforts of home. He’s not an adventurer in that sense. I grew up loving camping. The smell of the fire, the sounds of my father building a fire in the crisp morning air, the clanging of the pots from my moms amazing camp fire cooking, and the freedom of riding bikes, catching salamanders, playing in the water, and making new friends with other campers is what I’ve remembered the most. I love ❤️ adventure! I ❤️ sharing that adventurous spirit with my kids. We spent two nights in Forks @ Mora Campground. The spot (A24) was perfect. Enough room to pitch two tents, and have six by the fireplace. The bathrooms were close by and the cost of the campsite was $20/per night. I think that’s way cheaper than ...
