Almost Paradise

Almost Paradise @Ranier Cabin 9/5-7

Blog entry number 9,245(I made that up). We are up here at the base of Mt. Rainier relaxing together. The cabin is surrounded by acres of peaceful homestead living. The owner has several cabins on site and lives here as well. Her house literally looks like a ark! She was warm and inviting and would’ve told us all about herself, her family, and the property if given the chance. All we allowed her to story us with was a imaginative tale of swamp children who, against the wishes of the Health Department, that find their way into the cabin’s hot tub at night. Please lock up was her warning ⚠️!  2 days together. We found ourselves alone, hot tubbing, and asking questions from some personal questions card game we found in our garage. Clearly not OUR game since half of the questions didn’t pertain to us. Fun, inviting, and sometimes revealing nonetheless. My favorite thing at the cabin, minus the hot tub and the Sasquatch that roamed the woods, was the quirky little “leave it” trinket board. We left one of our more interesting cards from our Personal Questions game.

We bought yummy ice cream in Elbe, consumed burgers and fries from The Lion’s Club fund raiser in Ashford, and visited the artsy Pottery shop in town. Art is so personal to us and we both love different styles, yet Mark and I adored and would’ve purchased the one painting that stopped us both dead in our tracks if we had the money. It was a beautiful piece of Art by Neil Meitzler called The Tempest.

Maybe it was the lights illuminating the waves, or the size of the art, or the incredibly soft visible brush strokes on the canvas but we stood for at least 5 minutes in wonder! Maybe I will call and offer him money for this painting!!! Who needs a hot tub when you can see yourself standing on the cliff, hearing the waves crash against the rocks feeling the anger and immense power of the artist’s ocean?

We ate s’mores, laughed, loved, and enjoyed every minute of/with each other.

Also started a great book called Devolution...on Audible of course. I love listening to Judy Greer’s voice, especially since 13 going on 30 is one of my favorite movies!
