Great American Road Trip Day #5
Day 5 and still going strong! Mrs Preteen wanted to go swimming early since the pool had been closed the day before due to high winds. It was heated so 8am sounded like a good plan. The pool was warm, although the weather at 8am was considered freezing to the Locals and to my ears that I refused to keep under water at times. The lifeguards were wearing hats, winter gloves, ear muffs, and large puffy jackets. We both froze our tushes off when we got out! Done. Check that swimming box right off the list.
I found a Starbucks in our hotel. Apparently there are two Starbucks so no need for off brand coffee at the bagel shop. Charlie has been working on school work this week from the hotel. I fear she may have a lot of missing work due to our vacation. They have been piling it on the kids ever since we went back. Mark had to pick up 2 classes this week from a UMA professor who had to take a week off so he is doing sub work with his own as well. He opted out and declined the work but there was no one else so he eventually agreed.
Charlie’s agenda was Go Carting (I think I opted to give up the High Roller wheel for a hour of Go Carts). Our agenda was to get a front passenger light for our car (our van is making this vacation worry free) get ice, and gas since we were nearly out. We had a blast buying a hour of unlimited go carts with two tracks to race. She is quite the driver!
Back to the Venetian. Lots of walking again. Shopping at the Grand Canal Shops with a Lobster Roll snack. Back to the Strip for a evening stroll to see the lights, the Bellagio, and the Lava eruption at the Mirage. We ate Sinner (dinner but with some sin) at Gordon Ramsey’s Burger in Planet Hollywood (I gave up on Hell’s Kitchen because it was 75.00 pp). The burgers were spectacular. The nachos were unique but I would have preferred them in a corn tortilla shell. I loved the pickled onions on top though. The Truffle fries can’t be beat (they reminded Mark of our Fifty Shades date a few years back when we went to Seattle to see Fifty Shades of Freed in a quaint Seattle theater and ate Truffle popcorn). Hmmm. Note to self- buy more truffle season. Oh at this trinket shop I found this cute little (well Mark found it) “ring for sex” bell 🛎. Charlie has been mortified many a times on this trip. Hahaha. It’s just a trinket and I’m sure won’t be used for other purposes😉. Paris was lit in Red White and Blue that night and the Bellagio had a spectacular show!
