Vacation Day #2

We left Ashland bright and early in the morning around 630 and drove like crazy to make our appointment or our tour time at the Winchester mansion in San Jose. I did most of the driving although a little hectic at times but since I am the World’s best driver -no you’re not- I was cut out for the task -were you though-! We arrived in good time. Since we were early we decided to stop at the famous In-n-Out Burger and try what people say is the best burger in the world. Little do they know it was not the best burger in my opinion. Jubilee burgers in the small town of Midland has better burgers than In-N-Out could ever have. 

Next up was the Winchester house- we just talked about that- (I am using the speaker to dictate and Charlie keeps chirping/Chiming in). The Winchester house was amazing and worth every penny that we spent there.. Charlie got to use some of the guns at a shooting gallery. Mrs Winchester was an amazing woman not the crazy lunatic everybody says she was. We spent two hours wandering around her house that had 2000 doors 1600 windows and 161 rooms and 19 bathrooms. Her property was a completely self sustaining working farm and she was very kind and generous to her servants and field hands. She even built them houses so they could live on her property. Even still we will probably still watch the Winchester movie when we get home just to see the house again. After San Jose we headed over to Monterey. We got in around 930pm and collapsed into bed after we grabbed some sushi at Whole Food. We fell asleep to Ghost Hunters... 👻 

Charlie won’t let me write anymore because she wants ice cream 🍦 Later then!

Monday, when we got back from our anniversary trip, found a note on the counter that read: Suzanne called. Play group. Tuesday at 830am. Who would schedule a playgroup so early? Doesn't anyone sleep in? Let the kids find their own breakfast, and stay under the covers till they beg for lunch? Well, you know heat here in the summers, ranging around the 100's, makes us southerners wake up early in the a.m. to do the things we enjoy. When noon rolls around, we hull up in our homes, doors tightly shut, curtains drawn, trying to escape the BIG BAD (the sun appropriately named, right Spike?)! I guess that was not in the cards for us today! We spent the early morning hours playing at the park with pretty much everyone from Journey! Unfortunately around 10 a.m. the heat found us and forced us to retreat to Suzanne's house for some relief! My latest obsessions….puzzling The week after Coyote made a surprise visit! It’s been awhile since I posted! I was just looking back on some posts and giggled so I think it is important to continue since posts tell the story of my life. These pictures were from our latest venture to Paso Robles to see Coyote! Mark, I, and Charlie drove to Paso Robles California in approximately 18 hours. We stayed three glorious days and drove home within the sametime frame. While we were there, we got to see Hearst Castle, visited San Luis Obispo, saw the ocean and tons of beached Sea creatures, ate amazing food, drank amazing coffee, visited a couple of thrift stores, art galleries, and was surprised to find a outdoor vending machine full of specialty meats and cheeses. We purchased a cheese that was literally black all the way through. It was so good and tasty. It had a wonderful lemon taste to it and was very mild. Our Airbnb was located on a Vineyard.
