Angela's Picks...Top 10 Gift Ideas For Christmas
1. 13 slot file folders-I discovered this unique little bill filing system from ItchyBits, so I will let her describe why this has become one of my favorites. Instead of stuffing all my receipts, copies, statements etc. into shoe boxes, drawers, file cabinets etc. I came upon the 13 pocket plastic file folder. Exciting huh? But it is! I tab this thing out by the month and I stick all my transactions in the appropriate monthly slot and it slides neatly onto a bookshelf. I label with the year and it is organized. I've been doing this for the last five years and have them all lined up. Because they are plastic they are reusable so once you've saved stuff long enough...purge...and use it again. They come in funky colors or just traditional colors.I also use them for other paper-heavy things like financial papers with each slot tabbed out with IRA, College Fund, Savings, Insurance etc. I guess the real reason is so that when I get hit by a bus the House guest will be able to locate paperwork easily. I also use them for my clipped receipes that used to float around in drawers.
Thanks Itchybits for hooking me up with this great idea! I love the simplicity of it!
2. Japanese Cherry Blossom Shower Gel from Bath and Body Works ! I love this fragrance, and have purchased several for myself, and as birthday gifts. I was trying to recreate my blog, using the same design on the front of the bottle, but failed miserably. I think they did a great job packaging this product. It has my vote...
3. Fossil Watches
I have been the lucky recipient of a Fossil two years in a row! I love the durability, flexibility, uniqueness, class, and dependability of a Fossil. Of course, then there's the box that they come in...can you say cute! They might very well just stand the test of TIME.
4. How about a cookbook for that busy soul that never has time to make the nice family meal? I just recently purchased this book and have found the recipes to be well thought out. I don't necessarily freeze my meals, but the food is quick, simple, and tasty. This is definitely for the one on your list who reads cookbooks like a piece of fiction!
5. The Dickies' nursing tote bag and the Zip It purses, are next in line! These are two of my latest, and greatest finds. I have been searching for this Dickies tote for several months and finally found it at my local scrub shop. It is very universal though, and can be used for any profession. The colors come in pink/white and black/pink. The tote is quite roomy and extremely durable. As far as the Zipper purse goes, well what would be better than a purse that unzips all the way, making one long zipper. I am the first one to have such a thing around here (the hospital), and I get tons of compliments, and "oh, where did you get that!" from my co-workers. Did anyone pf you know that was one of the requirements for entering the nursing profession...you must first love bags? It's true. My closet doesn't lie.
6. My Sister's Keeper by Jody Picoult- I found this new-to-me author, that I thoroughly enjoy, while on a recent trip to Ol' Miss! I will let you go here to read my review of this book. Truly, you will not be sorry if you happen to grab it off the stores shelves for yourself, this Christmas season.7. Silky Hands from Mary Kay - My MIL gave me the set for Christmas last year. I didn't ask for it, but I love it.
Now what are YOUR favorites?
8. GLO E Bear I made this discovery at the hospital about two weeks ago! One of my patients had one of these incredibly cute bears at her bedside. After activating the glowing action (multi-colored light show) , every time I was in the room, I realized it was a "must have" gift for Ethan at Christmas (common even the new Elmo has nothing on this bear...and it's half the price, I'm sure). Since I was so excited about Glo E, I didn't hesitate as I gave it to my son, as soon as I got home from work (went straight to Walmart to buy it, after I pulled a 12 hour shift). Glo E's come as dogs, monkeys, or bears. You choose the animal, and just don't forget to tell yourself that your buying it for the kids! The bear would be superb for the child who fears the dark. It will automatically turn off after the 30 minute, continuous light show.
9. Hickory Farms' Sweet Hot Mustard - Mark knows it's a romantic night when I bring home a nice beef stick with some tasty Sweet Hot Mustard from Hickory Farms. I finally picked some up from Walmart last weekend for that very purpose. Even though it ended up just being a snack while we re-watched a couple of Angel episodes (which falls from the romance charts because we end up falling asleep), it was still very satisfying.
10. Now for the nurse on your list! Littman Classic 2 S.E. Stethoscope. I wish I had purchased this stethoscope, when I was a nursing student. Being able to distinguish between rhonchi and rales would have been a breeze. I've even had two compliments, from different doctors, regarding the engraved name place that fits nicely between the two lumens.
