But It's MY Dysfunctional Life

The last of our cabin pictures. We did have a blast...and enjoyed every minute of it! We are glad to be home, with all our kids! We missed them. Last night we had a quiet night with the kids. Dinner (homemade nachos), preparations for a week of school, laundry, baths, and grocery shopping completed the night! When H&A dropped off the kids, they informed us of some issues the kids were dealing with...ones that we have been working on since I don't know...FOREVER. In an effort to continue where they left off (instead of taking it too personally, which I started too), I woke up at 1230am and 0430 am to take both Charlie and Ethan to the bathroom. Potty Training! Maybe in a week I will have two kids who are potty trained in the middle of the night. Ethan was sooo easy to get up last night,  which is a HUGE change. They both woke up dry....score one for Arlene! Then this morning I called and made arrangements for my son to have a friend come over after school. Ethan made some comment to H&A that he didn't have any friends. In order to fix him, they gave him a talking too about how a true friend acts. I am hoping that he is taking those into consideration, and will find new friends at school. I am going to clean off his chalkboard and find a scripture that talks about true friendship, just to remind him. On to Valerie's issues, her lack of respect for herself and her hair. Apparently she had a huge hair knot last week, and instead of trying to brush it out she just put it up in a pony. So guess who found it, Arlene. Last night, I  made Valerie get up on the kitchen counter and washed her hair with some deep conditioning rinse, massaging it all the way to her scalp. Today I have plans to get both the kids hair cut (another suggestion from H&A). I know they love the kids, but sometimes I want them to return them to us and say, "Your kids were perfect angels, we love how you are raising them, and they are perfect in every way." Is that too much to ask? Maybe, but just hold your tongue, say it, and then maybe this awkwardness between us will go away! Shannon just suggested, "next time get a paid babysitter."  Here's to wishing for the tongue restraint instead. It's not because I am cheap, it's because they need to KNOW their grandparents.
