Easter was candy free this year, thanks to a comment I must have made to my mom and dad. Let's me know that they really listen to me!! He hee. Poor kiddos survived just fine and they were thrilled with the Larabars they found in their Easter Baskets (umm bags). For several years we haven't given in to the ritualistic Easter Bunny or it's counter part, aka the Easter Basket. We however love giving the kids gifts so Ethan received a Sounder's soccer ball, Val got an anime art book from Sukuracon, and Charlie received more dresses for Sadie. The kids were thrilled, and less hyped up on candy at the end of the night. I did sneak them one piece of my EMERGENCY CHOCOLATE, as Charlie calls it.
Grandma and Grandpa were thrilled to spend Easter together with all the grand kids, but missed Jer and the kids. Maybe next year. We did talk about the family camping trip that we plan to PLAN for this year. It will be a blast to have all the grand kids together. The kids are getting older and seem to play so much better. I think I even caught a glimpse of Charlie and Lanie playing and discussing jewelry. LOVE IT. Our dinner spread consisted of my mom's famous tooting fruiting baked beans (which we LOVE, but HATE the fact we ate them later that night:) I made deviled eggs, and
Annie's Eats Twice Baked Potato Casserole-yummy. Valerie helped grandma hide the eggs for the kiddie egg hunt, and then they (Val and Ethan) got to decorate Easter Houses. Valerie's was of course laced with a Hetalia theme Swedish style, and Ethan's was constructed and cared for perfectly. Ethan is becoming more and more of a perfectionist like his dad. Valerie is so free spirited it is hard to keep her grounded:) I love watching them both create because of their individualistic style preferences.Valerie turned the bunnies in the premade kit into chicks all by herself. Awesome. All my kids are just lovely creatures. Beautiful both inside and out. We had a wonderful day enjoying Great Grandparents being there, family, the sun, and of course the food.
