Rock Quarry

Thanks to Thrifty NW mom we found a new watering hole to swim in. ~NEVER GOING BACK~!After getting the kids their school supplies we headed to the town of Tenino. They have this little hidden gem called the Rock Quarry Pool (eatablished in 1889 and reestabliahed in 1989). The site has a lot of history that is fascinating. Who would've guessed that deep beneath the waters, approximately 85 feet, their still sits old equipment used back in the 1800's when the site was a working Sandstone Quarry. The scenery here was peaceful, and the swimming backdrop beautiful. It reminded me of a Aztec/Congo Jungle, complete with a waterfall! I wasn't too impressed with the toilets (Charlie liked that we could go potty in the same stall that housed two toilets), the changing room or the resting areas that surrounded the swimming hole.

Okay everything I said up top....ignore! Spent the last hour researching this place. We are never going back. First of all queries are not safe for anyone. The change in temperature when you jump in could kill a person (the lifeguards there couldn't save anyone since half the time they aren't watching), there's at least a potential of 1 body in there according to a NW diver (,http://www.nwdiveclub.com/viewtopic.php?t=5335)  loads of fecal matter, stolen junk, possible metals that are potentially toxic, and who knows what else. I immediately showered again since being there today. I can't believe I didn't think/research this idea!
So glad my children are safe tonight. If anyone drowns out there I don't know if anyone could recover a body since the silt is so thick at the bottom (according to divers who have tried the dive once). Now I have to fall asleep to the crazy dreams of a paranoid mother.....!

Here's pictures of the good times we had here, but will NeVER have again!!
