I Had a Dream

Image
She had a dream of owning a dog!  I had a dream of taking that dog to the ocean. We both realized dreams do come true But sometimes it’s the hardest thing that happens to you. Because MLK gave us an extra day off we packed everyone up and went to Ocean Shores. I was so happy everyone could make it until the trip there. Apparently Sasha gets car sick. All the way there she kept puking making the car ride almost unbearable. If it wasn’t for our music prompts I am not sure if I could’ve handle it. Thank goodness on the way back we found fun little treats called The Happy Traveler. She didn’t puke once and slept the whole way back. We shopped, ate, played a board game, swam, and Sasha and I attempted a Geocache but it was gone from its hiding spot and required maintenance. Sasha had a great time at the beach, running at the waves. She also played with this boy who worked at the hotel- every time she saw him it was the same song and dance. He would drop to the floor and she would lay k...

Celebrations

Celebrations this week... Nurses Week/Year of the Nurse May 6-12th and 2020 Mother’s Day May 10th Celebration of Life For Mike Cortez May 9, 2020 I am enjoying this Year of Nursing mainly because I am with Kaiser. Kaiser values it’s employees, see us as a asset, valuable, and with high importance. I have felt nothing but love for my new employer. Even during COVID 19 I am continually amazed at its kindness and compassion for its people and its members. For nurses week, along with cake and fruit, we each received a GlassyBaby votive holder. It is beautiful and reminder me why we do this, who started this, and the reason why we want to shine our lamps so brightly. Florence Nightingale is a truly spectacular person and every time I light my candle I will think of her!  May is a hard time for my family because we get another year from seeing Mike for the last time. I am grateful for that early day in May of 2016. The day when Ryan had a soccer game and my mom and I went down to see it ...

Changes

There’s a bit of changes that we have undergone. Work in both Mark and I’s job fields. Of course with changes comes adjustments.  We haven’t had much time to get away together to see Val. I am Currently headed to see her though. Our 21 year old child! Yes, 21! Weird to think that 21 years ago this tiny little pink bowed baby burst up into this world in her own way, in her own time, and with such drama! She hasn’t stopped her dad and I from smiling from ear to ear. She is driven, motivated, unique, and so full of life. She fights for what she wants, even if it means living on her own for a whole year without her parents and tribe near. She has changed from someone who needed us to a adult who is completely self sufficient. I couldn’t be prouder and extremely sad at the same time. I miss those days of reading to our book monger (literally we had to lay her on her belly to read so her hands couldn’t grab the books to eat them). We collected a series of Sesame Street cardboard books bu...
