A Zoo in desperate need!

We were hot and bored on Sunday so we went on a family drive that led us straight to the Crossland Zoo. The zoo houses 50 different types of animals and reptiles! Every time we visit this free zoo (donations accepted) we shudder at the way the animals are cared for. I don't believe that it is the Zoo's fault rather the patrons that frequent without donating (I have at one time, been one of those people as well). I cringed when I saw the wolves ears being eaten by insects, and the sheep's hair caked with mud and bugs! This is my plea, if you are rich or know Mr. Bill Gates please take a second to donate and contribute to the lives of these forsaken animals. It would be awesome if they had an unexpected donation...that would help improve the wildlife's habitats! If you are down in the South and have never ventured out to this zoo, I urge you to go and see for yourselves the need of these animals.

Ang is absolutely right on this one! She failed to mention the goat with the ripped ear, the excessive amount of emu poop left in the enclosure, the tiny porcupine enclosure, and witnessing the underfeeding (and watering) of two different cages of monkeys. I could go on, but you get the idea. My seven-year-old daughter keeps better zoos on the computer when she plays Zoo Tycoon...although she sometimes lets the tigers out of their cages to terrorize the virtual tourists...yikes!

Hmmmm. Not a zoo fan but I wonder if it is the lack of funds...of course it is the lack of funds...it is always the lack of funds...but perhaps the management isn't managing? If the zoo can't earn enough through admissions and donations to keep it decent then I wonder why the owners are in the business? If you love animals why would you treat them this way. Close it...relocate the animals...spare some animals a miserable life.

Amen. In the South it is always about a lack of funds. The sad thing is, they would never close the Zoo...they just make do with what they have, even at the animals expense!
