Friday Fever

Take me home... 1. Do you smoke? -Absolutely not, I am a nurse. It would be a contrary to my career, plus "eww!" 2. Are you more likely to be caught humming, whistling or singing to yourself? -Singing. "Rockstar" by Nickelback. I am such a heathen! 3. Have you ever been to New Orleans? -No, and not interested now! 4. When is the last time you saw the sun rise? -Wednesday, on my early morning drive to work. 5. Can you swim? -Yes. Although if I was imprisoned at Alcatraz, I would not be able to swim across to San Fransico.

Sandwichy-Goodness

Image
I know most of you are in search of a cute, unique, fuki looking lunch box for you childrens. Plus, I even bet your wondering what you might fill that butterfly, spiderman, or dinosaur lunch box with, right? Well, I have stumbled across an awesome blog that utilizes the coolest little lunch box! Stumbled in as much as lurking on one of my sidebar's sidebar! The lunch boxes themselves are a little pricey, and do in some way remind me of my tupperware lunch box when I was in third grade (may be the reason I am drawn to them). Bento boxes are sure to make your child stand out in the vast arrays of Walmart lunch boxes. Caution though, the local elementary cut lunch time down to 20 minutes last year (due to summertime sunshine). At that rate your child will be sitting there trying to open the third container when the bell rings, and would end up missing lunch altogether. If you decide to go with fashion, trendiness...then I also strongly encourage you to enjoy the blog that goes along ...

Back to School!

Image
Friday is crunch day! The kids' future teachers will be plastered all over the locked doors of the local elementary schools (locked for the appropriate reason of having PO parents who want to switch their teacher selection). I on the other hand, just want to know! I want to prepare...to get the waiting over. The annual back to school time has arrived super fast for us. I have been busy adjusting to my work schedule and have not noticed the time whizing by (unless I am waiting for a day off). The kids are getting excited, and Ethan can't hardly contain himself when he thinks about going to the school with the blue roof. He gets all giggley about going to "the big school." After all the hype settles, we realize that the desperate phone calls from both side of our families will ensue. My mom, now the she is linked up with a cell phone, will call while shopping, frantically claiming "I left the kids' sizes at home." Mark's mom, on the other hand, will t...

The Third? Why?

Image
1. to be needed 2. to see the relationships that emerge between the three (ethan and val want one) 3. to play the guess who's pregnant game with my mom 4. cuz trying is always fun 5. to attempt a vbac 6. to buy whatever i want for this baby since finances will finally allow 7. to have a child my parents can watch grow...not see only twice a year 8. to nurse one last time (favorite part for me) 9. to feel that new connection again 10. to be able to make this decision for myself 11. feeling that lil one kick and twist inside me 12. all the cute baby clothes, binkis, and diapers (did i just say diapers would be a reason?) 13. because the desire to have one more is not gone 14. to have a finale moment...to say goodbye to this part of my life 15. the smell of a baby 16 . baby pictures 17. to avoid future regret 18. and most importantly, to avoid being the older mother in the doctor's office waiting room, who looks fondly at the new mothers holding their infants and...

Get up sunshine, we can't be late for work!

Image
The first view of daylight. It's incredible the sights you can see if you deny yourself sleep! Phew, can you smell those chicken houses. I can't believe anyone would eat chicken after driving on this road everyday. He always provides! God is an amazing creator. Stop staring at me, I'm just taking your picture. What does this picture tell you? Notice the new pool and lawn chair/table set.

Buffy died for the third time last night

Quid Pro Quo: There is a key, made human by monks, that unlocks the door to a hell dimension. The hell god "Glory" has to use Dawn's blood (the key made flesh, and created out of the slayer's own blood)to open the portal so that she can return to the hell dimension and reign supreme in her world. As long as this portal remains open, it allows all other demon dimensions to have access to Sunnydale. The portal's open...what will Buffy (the vampire slayer) do?

suzanne's quirkiness in and out of the blogasphere

Image
how does she do it? how does suzanne spell out exactly how i feel in about every blog! i don't think you need to worry about people liking you...you are extremely likeable! you are what the scriptures talked about this morning. a person who gives to those in need, selflessly. i know you are racking your brain right now thinking what you have given me...let me explain! you have given to me without knowing. i needed to socialize last tuesday, i needed to be able to relate to someone, i needed someone to encourage me, and i needed to feel connected (although i didn't need your MAC, sorry). let me say "thanks" for all of that! really and truly journey, and it's members has become an adopted family to us in the few weeks we've attended. i think these blogs truly bring people together. connects us. encourages us and as ronnie mentioned "is a place where the weirdo's can come and belong." to quote jeff's interpretation of what www means for the sit...

My Memories, My Pictures!

Image
Our Anniversary Trip, and why it meant so much to me! Alone in a car, the open road before us. The silence, music, and reading (my husband reading to me) made the trip perfect. Stopping at any little roadside place that looks exciting. Buying little gifts for our 'lil' ones that are unique. Eating at new places that served our fetish for exotic foods from lands far away! Bookstores (okay three, but hey that's more than our no bookstore town), that habited some dormant authors we have never heard of before. Looking at all the books that have been signed by the authors and knowing one day Mark will walk into a little bookstore and sign his own book copies. Picture taking contests...to see who's photo will be the best! Mine, of course. The one on the left; the odd view of the columns. Strolling on a college campus exploring all the great architecture and the well landscaped parks. College libraries that provide well placed sitting areas that overlook courtyard fountains. ...

Friday Fever

The road less traveled... 1. What don't you understand? -Nurses that smoke...so don't ask! 2. Name someone in your life with blue eyes: -The new talking, repeating parrot Mark bought for my blue eyed daughter (grrr)! 3. When is a lie not really a lie? -When you're trying to relieve someone else's pain. Sure she'll get better...even though it won't happen! 4. When is the last time you got really dirty? -Two weeks ago. It's between me and my husband, and it is better left unsaid! 5. Are you a lefty or a righty? -Lefty, of course! Creative to a tee!

Prescription for Peace and Popsicles

Image
Monday, when we got back from our anniversary trip, found a note on the counter that read: Suzanne called. Play group. Tuesday at 830am. Who would schedule a playgroup so early? Doesn't anyone sleep in? Let the kids find their own breakfast, and stay under the covers till they beg for lunch? Well, you know heat here in the summers, ranging around the 100's, makes us southerners wake up early in the a.m. to do the things we enjoy. When noon rolls around, we hull up in our homes, doors tightly shut, curtains drawn, trying to escape the BIG BAD (the sun appropriately named, right Spike?)! I guess that was not in the cards for us today! We spent the early morning hours playing at the park with pretty much everyone from Journey! Unfortunately around 10 a.m. the heat found us and forced us to retreat to Suzanne's house for some relief! We had a great time chatting, the conversation ranged from ovulation...and ended with ovulation. I think Micheal enjoyed the conversation as much ...

What's the word?

I found a travel Scrabble at the Walmart in Clarksdale, Mississippi! Already broke it in...poor Mark!

Friday Fever

Name the last person you... 1. Hugged -Valerie and Ethan! Lots of kisses and hugs goodnight! 2. Smiled at -The older couple I passed doing 70 on the the way home! 3. Deceived - Everyone, when I am talking about my Scrabble abilities! 4. Glared at -Mark for announcing on his blog, that when we first met his friend thought I was a "floozy"! 5. Lusted after -Dr. Al Nashif (not purposeful, just a dream. Can't fault me for that!). I did offer him a donut after he d/c several of my meds :) Thanks Dr.!

A Professional...?

Image
I know what my career should be now, I don't want to be a nurse (this comes after a horrible day at the hospital). I am meant to be a professional Scrabble player. Honestly, I need to quit my full time job and go for it. I am not cut out for 25 minutes of chest compressions, vent patients with multiple needs, and orientating a student as well. Grrr! Maybe things will look brighter in the morning. A little Buffy, mark snuggles, and a large diet coke from Taco Bell will make the world of nursing bright and new for tomorrow! Oh by the way, Lou and Michael you are tagged to do the One Hundred Things list! I enjoyed the playing in the park yesterday with the kiddies. Well, not the hundreds of stink bugs (or pork chops and Mc D's as Ethan likes to call them). Here are a few pics to keep everyone's interest!

The next top model

Thanks to Noble Photo for using my daughter's picture as a advertisement. I think she is the cutest. I am glad Carolyn had a chance to get this picture when she did because I think her front tooth is going to fall out in a couple of days! The photo shoot is Saturday August 5th. Call Carolyn for details!

S-S-Something from the comments

Image
Okay, so I stole the title from the infamous The Zefrank Show ! If you haven't had the opportunity to hear a recent clip from the show, stop by and browse (warning...not for the weak of heart). He is hilarious, satirical, and serious all in one breath. I know some of my blog rollers are wondering who is throwing sarcastic comments at my blog lately. Let me rest your mind! His name is Charles (-ch), or Uncle Charlie to the kids! He is our nearest (well not anymore since he abandoned us two years ago for another college town) and dearest friend! He befriended my husband when he came to town six years ago. He boarded him for three weeks, fed him, and gave him the low down on the town! Over the years he has meant so much to us! He became our family. A person we relied on in those moments when we needed family! He apparently is even proficient in marriage counseling, and deserves a boat load of gratitude for our happy marriage to date. This being said, he has all the right in the world...

Book Meme rides again!

Book Meme says too: 1. Pick any book from your shelves. 2. Choose a number: today’s date or a multiple thereof. (37) 3. Open to the corresponding page. 4. Choose a fairly low number associated with you, like the number of letters in your first name. Let’s say it’s four. (3) 5. Locate the corresponding sentence on the page you chose—the fourth full sentence in this case. (You can’t discard or backtrack. Take what you get.) 6. Post the sentence in your blog. 7. Repeat 1-6 two or three times using the same numbers. (Okay, change the Rule 2 multiple if you have to.) 8. Try to interpret the results. If you don't like them, remember, tomorrow is another day. "On this occasion, when I boarded an Omnibus I was addressed by theconductor as though I had just spit tobacco juice on the floor." - The Poe Shadow by Matthew Pearl "I'll lock the door from the outside." - The Invention of Curried Sausage by Uwe Timm "Here was how ghosts must sing, thought Ali, this Bant...

Sew I knit!

Image
I stumbled across this interesting blog last night (reading blogs is very addicting) called SewIknit ! A group of women have set up a club to encourage knitters to sew. Some are new at sewing and some (by their pictures) look like they have sewn for years. The whole jest of the group is to sew a chosen group item by such and such a deadline. I joined. I love sewing and felt like this would encourage me to jump back into my favorite hobby (scrapbooking tailing at a close second). I have always made clothes, p.j.'s, and totes for other people but never myself, until today. Although I am not quite finished I will let you see how I am doing on it. I was a little frustrated on the wording of the patterns directions, but maybe next time I will whip it up in two hours like it said! For those of you who don't know me too well, I actually taught myself to sew! I have managed to accomplish one awesome vogue pattern that I am very proud of, but the rest are just easy to sew patterns! If a...

Friday Fever

1. Have you ever had an addiction? --Yes. Buffy the Vampire Slayer! Any season, any episode! 2. Are you afraid of the dark? --Yes! I actually have my family all fooled into thinking that the bathroom light needs to be on at night for the kids. 3. What is your favorite flavor of ice cream? --Rocky Road Rocks! I am not picky about the name brand, though! 4. Have you ever been to the circus? --Several times, even once on a date! I loved it as a kid...but now think it is a waste of money! The circus thinks they can charge a ton just for a spool of cotton candy! Ridiculous. We will take the kids when we get back to the "big city." 5. What do you think of North Korea testing weapons? --AAGHH! I hate political questions. Why shouldn't North Korea get to test theirs? We tested ours, right? I can already hear the comments pooring in! Mark said I should read about the North Korean government before I post. So for right now that is my answer! When I am done with my research I might ...

The beginnings of a new Journey!

Image
We were asked by Journey church to join them at family camp last weekend. Due to my work schedule the kids and Mark left on thursday and I joined them later on Friday evening. We had a great time! The activities kept us hopping and the fellowship kept us happy. The kids had time to play with other kids without mom and dad underfoot. Here's a highlight of our days at Camp Beechwood: swam, played spades, learned new words playing balderdash, ate, scaled 7 foot high walls, flew through the air on zip cords, saved Valerie from drowning, played bunco, slept very few hours, socialized, ate smores around a campfire, had my hair "heidi" braided, realized even adults had to follow camp rules (no rubber duckies in the pool, Ryan!), had our first family devotions, and learned more than we needed to know about some of our new church friends (thanks for sharing Carolyn. It helped to know)! Journey has given us some of the greatest family memories to date! Thank you, our new found fri...

Scrabble Fite

Image
Thanks Wendy and Mark for giving our scrabble game your all! I'm sorry I had to beat the pants off both of you (even if I spelled "Fite" the wrong way. Snooze you lose)! I have tons to post but unfortunately it is super late and I have to get up before the crack of dawn. I will be posting pictures from family camp and today! Look for those soon! Tonight, I sleep and dream of being crowned the scrabble champion...undefeated!

Primal Queen Quester!

Image
Primal Quest is an expedition-length adventure race . Each race lasts up to 10 days, with winning teams completing the course in approximately 5 days. Each team is required to have four members and must be co-ed. With a prize purse of $250,000, it is one of (if not the most) lucrative of all expedition races. Each team is required to carry a GPS device allowing race organizers and spectators to track each team real-time via the Internet. The first Primal Quest was held in 2002 in Telluride, Colorado . In 2003, the race moved to Lake Tahoe and 2004 featured a course on San Juan Island , in the State of Washington. CBS broadcast highlights of the race in 2003 and 2004, the first expedition adventure race to be featured on network television. On September 21 , 2004 , veteran racer Nigel Aylott was killed by a falling boulder during an orienteering section. Primal Quest was not held in 2005, but will return on June 25 , 2006 , under new management and with a new course director. Primal ...
