Chants, Children, and Chaos!
It was the first day of summer vacation! We spent the early morning participating in swim lessons at the local pool! Junior auxiliary provides the kids with lessons for 10.00 a week. There is only one hitch, the pool is packed with at least 100 eager children screaming for the attention of the swim instructor's. Maybe this mom is a bit of a worrier, but they could have a near drowning while the instructors are socializing! I chant, "I will not worry, I will not worry, I will not worry." I refrain from yelling out..."please watch my daughter, she thinks she can swim" because you know how 7-year olds exaggerate! I calmed those crazy nerves by reading..but I staggered over every sentence and reread each word 10 times. I closed the book and gave into that anxious inner person! Finally when they were safely back in the car, I breathed (not literally folks...please think with the left side of your brain) ! I know this is why Mark refuses to go with us to the city pool--fear!Later that same day...
We were sitting in our front room when we heard this loud popping noise! I immediately made sure I could see our son out the front window (my chants screeching in my head), and I ran to see what he had done! I found E-man staring at the Grand Am, screaming "I'm sorry, I'm sorry! It was an accident!" That is was. The back windshield in our car was completely shattered. GRRRRR. After resisting the earge to sell him to the next bidder (first offering him to my mother for free), I called around to see who would charge us the least amount to get it fixed (I am now eating the words "I don't see a need to cover windshield repair insurance on this vehicle!" Could I have some ketchup to go with that..mmm). I finally found a nice man who is going to replace the windshield with a used model! I can't tell you how nice it will be when the two incomes allow these incidences to become minor events in our lives! The man quoted me 140.00 (local body shops quoted up to 450.00). I think Ethan and Valerie are now even. When she was younger she decided to swing on our T.V. and of course, down it went. That accident cost us around the same for the new Telly (thanks to Grandpa N. this accident turned into a new 27' Telly).
Later that very same day...
So you think this is where the worrying ends in my day! Wrong! Very Wrong! The kids decided to go play at a friend's house down the street. The boy, who is home schooled and very polite, seems to have a crush on Valerie. This is putting a damper on my whole new philosophy that the kids need to build relationships! We found out this boy is homeschooled because he was kicked out of the local school and spent a couple weeks up in Little Rock at a place for misbehaved children. He said he gets angry a lot! I have tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, but then I discovered that he has been trying to kiss Valerie! Okay parents, am I over reacting? I do do that thing you know ("Buffyverse" at it's finest) ! Over react! Mom, you are not allowed to answer that question because you and I are of the same cloth! Should I put a kaboosh on this new friendship? The kids love going over there because they have this cool waterslide...! Okay I am chanting again...!
Who's to say what will happen next. After all they aren't in bed yet...

As far as the kiss...Go to the kid and grab his ear and hold on tight and say you better leave my daughter alone and don't try to kiss her again or her dad will come and get you. Got it. Punk!
