Bodega Day #3
Day #3 started off with a picnic basket breakfast overlooking a pond on the 50 acres that are attached to the Sonoma Coast Villa. The Villa was full of beauty and would take hours to explore but we only had a few this morning. We hot tubbed, ate, played a quick round of hole in one on their putting green and then checked out.
We headed to Bodega Bay and then to the town of Bodega. The scene with winding roads is just what Bodega Bay is like. Small roads and crazy drivers don’t mix. We grabbed coffee (or I did) at a cute quaint shop off the beaten path and a geocache near the city center. The real fun came when we went to the town of Bodega and stood at the same spot Mr Hitchcock did in the early 60’s. I love his work. The horror is appropriate and not so scary. It’s the element of horror that I like. Most movies now days try to throw everything at you and make it full or guts and gore to get their movie goer frightened. He just had some nice birds that weren’t minding their own business;) plus Mitch Brenner was a catch to look at for 1 hour 59 minutes.
After Bodega we went into Santa Rosa to our first winery. Kendal Jackson Estate winery! It was beautiful and we roamed around their gardens, both culinary and grapes until our tasting was ready at 215. We ended up staying at the winery until 4pm because the wine, company, and conversation made time slip by!
We ended up at Rick’s Hideaway Airbnb. His little studio apartment was complete with everything we needed plus some. There are 5 Tikki Huts, bocce ball, hot tub, ping pong, horse shoes, chickens, and lots of places to sit around the grounds. Day 4 here we discovered that the bed actually elevates at the neck and legs! Ha ha ha…
