Dry Creek Drive Day #4

Day #4 Tuesday- Up early. Breakfast at Rick’s Hideaway in one of his many seating areas! Breakfast: Fresh chicken egg scramble and sausages with 2good yogurt! Perfect way to get our tummies full, which is important when winery hopping. Mark even was able to work outside during breakfast.

Our first winery was early morning around 1130. We went to Papapietro Perry. I had purchased a Sonoma Passport and it was on the list and specialized in Pinot Noir. We tasted 6 wines before we said “no more.” Everyone here is very generous with theirs pours and extras that aren’t on the list. Someone said it’s because they have missed having people at their wineries! Speaking of…..California just opened on the 15th so we are loving the NO MASK mandate! It has been lovely!!! We are tempted to join this winery and will make our final decision after tomorrow’s tastings. Le Crema (a suggestion made by our Safari West tour guide) is on the list for 10am tomorrow (we have to start early if we are going to see more than 2;) Francis Ford Coppola is on the list tomorrow too with reservations for dinner at the winery and a tasting prior to our reservation around 330p. We really are trying to relax but there are so many things to see.

After Papapietro we went to Diana Winery - a dud unfortunately. It was buy one/get one tasting so we thought it was worth a try and on the same road— Dry Creek Road. The selections came poured and in plastic cups. It wasn’t my type of winery or Mark’s but we did find the facilities rather charming. Comic Diana prints made her debut in the bathrooms of the winery.

The next stop required a quick shirt change since it was upscale. Jordan Winery. We couldn’t get a reservation so we just wanted to look at the grounds. Unfortunately the front was all we were allowed to see since they were ultra private. We got to browse the wine shop at least.

We headed to Healdsburg after that. 2 books shops, 1 more tasting room (recommended by Jordan Winery staff for its Reds) and a cute downtown park made this a nice little stop. Mark bought me a super cute owl coffee cup. He’s so sweet. Mod Pizza Salad ended this day!! Unfortunately I learned that too much roasted garlic can be a very bad thing! Of which I am still paying for…..
