Total Wine and More

Wine is not my strongest subject. I don’t know much about it, the process, the ratings, and how to tell if I’m going to enjoy it. I have been slowly learning since Mark and I did our little getaway in June down the Oregon Coast to Agate Beach. We visited 4 wineries and did their tastings. We enjoyed most of the settings except for one. We found that the more down to earth and more educational, the better their wine tasted. I love to learn and am constantly asking questions but I clam up if I’m in a setting or with a person who makes me feel stupid. The people at Eyrie Vineyards were the nicest that day. We walked out with two bottles of wine and a hat that day. I know big spenders huh? I wish it was a case because it was really good!

Today was Soccer Sunday. Ethan’s team won again 5-0 and Grandma even came to watch because it was across from Sparks Stadium.

I was feeling ignored lately so Mark took me out tonight. After racking our brains for things to do, we opted to not waste money on food but rather go to Total Wine and More for a date. It was fun. We got there in time for their taste testing and we tasted three wines and some hard liquor for free!! Yay me! I LOVE free stuff and making memories at the same time. We wondered around and read quite a few descriptions until we ran across this Chardonnay that has hints of butterscotch and berries. We were sold. The wine ended up being “just okay” but after reading about it I realized that it was a sustainable wine. I don’t know much about that other than it’s fermented quite differently and they use more than just the grapes to flavor the wine. The wine is called California Square Fine Wine Chardonnay by Truett Hurst from Sonoma County. We did pair it with some meat and cheese and a movie at home to make it more special. It ended up being a fun date night.

Our Trip in the wine country

Exploring Agate Beach

One of my favorite wineries Rex Hill. Wonderful people but the wine was expensive! We are looking for the name when we shop though.
