Fourth of July

We spent the Fourth with Valerie at Camp Gilead today. We arrived at 115p and had to wait till about 215 for her to get off work. She had Kitchen Patrol so she was busy doing dishes and setting up for dinner. We took her to Duvall for lunch because she has a list of Staff challenges to accomplish by the end of summer and one was going to Duvall. Cute community town but they closed down the whole towns eateries except a local Subway! We ate at McCormick Park, snagged a geocache and then headed back to CtG for dinner, chaple, and fireworks. Valerie's friend Jenna sat with us during chapel and as I was talking to them she reached over and plucked that stray black hair that was sticking out of Valerie's mole on her right wrist! I ASK ALL the time to pluck that thing and she won't ever let me. She just sat there and let Jenna do it! Super excited to watch their friendship grow. Caitlyn and Ethan probably had a blast hanging out at Camp without the ever watchful eye over them. They wanted me to snap a couple photos for them and surprisingly they sat still for it! Jack shot off the fireworks in the bowl as everyone else positioned themselves for the best view!

Monday, when we got back from our anniversary trip, found a note on the counter that read: Suzanne called. Play group. Tuesday at 830am. Who would schedule a playgroup so early? Doesn't anyone sleep in? Let the kids find their own breakfast, and stay under the covers till they beg for lunch? Well, you know heat here in the summers, ranging around the 100's, makes us southerners wake up early in the a.m. to do the things we enjoy. When noon rolls around, we hull up in our homes, doors tightly shut, curtains drawn, trying to escape the BIG BAD (the sun appropriately named, right Spike?)! I guess that was not in the cards for us today! We spent the early morning hours playing at the park with pretty much everyone from Journey! Unfortunately around 10 a.m. the heat found us and forced us to retreat to Suzanne's house for some relief! My latest obsessions….puzzling The week after Coyote made a surprise visit! It’s been awhile since I posted! I was just looking back on some posts and giggled so I think it is important to continue since posts tell the story of my life. These pictures were from our latest venture to Paso Robles to see Coyote! Mark, I, and Charlie drove to Paso Robles California in approximately 18 hours. We stayed three glorious days and drove home within the sametime frame. While we were there, we got to see Hearst Castle, visited San Luis Obispo, saw the ocean and tons of beached Sea creatures, ate amazing food, drank amazing coffee, visited a couple of thrift stores, art galleries, and was surprised to find a outdoor vending machine full of specialty meats and cheeses. We purchased a cheese that was literally black all the way through. It was so good and tasty. It had a wonderful lemon taste to it and was very mild. Our Airbnb was located on a Vineyard.
