Summer Fun
Kat and I met up at Pioneer Park for a picnic and some kids play Spray Park fun! The kids were content for nearly 2 hours running all over the park between the Spraying fountains to the big toy. We even got to listen to one of their summer concerts in the park. While the kids played we chatted. I love talking to her, she gets me, and we usually have the same thoughts on life. Population controls were first and foremost as we talked about the most recognizable increase and influx of people to our area. It is crazy. You can go nowhere to escape the huddle and bussle of conglomeraterating individuals. One of the best examples is a spray park on a week day!!! Goodness.
Later that day Mark and I chose to carve out time together and planned a fun, mostly free date. We went to Tacoma Art Museum for free (on our ARM pass from the Burke), a bookstore (of course), the Hub for trivia night and dinner (not free but happy hour so lots cheaper) and then to a free show at Tacoma Comedy Club (with continued happy hour drinks)! The museum was awesome. They had a Stuart Painting of Washington, a couple of Georgia's paintings that I hadn't seen before, and a new exhibit that opened my eyes to what freedom really is in the "United States of America." I will never again complain about certain cultures of people in the area because of this exhibit. It is a touching and moving exhibit that makes you realize that we didn't fight for freedom or our way of life. We demanded it. First of all from the Indians, and now I am aware that we also exerted our power against the Chinese who helped build our railroads and and lived in Tacoma until our ancestors pushed them out. Racially cleansed the area is what they said in a courtroom case. Because they won that courtroom case the State gave the Chinese land by the waterfront. The Chinese Reconcilliation Project built the Chinese Reconciliation Park in downtown Tacoma. The exhibit is haunting and informative! A MUST see!
The exhibit link! After that we enjoyed trivia and an evening of sorted laughs at the Tacoma Comedy Club.Thankfully Grandma Nagel remembered Ethan on 7-11 day! She sweetly brought my boy the largest slurped ever!! Thanks Grandma!!!!!
